She is hilarious and kind and generous beyond belief and using her platform to shine a light on our non-profit.
Because of Leslie Jones, we were able to go to the set of @supermarketsweepabc and they donated so much food that every inch of our van was FULL!

@poppyandrosela …without fail… makes it possible for us to pass out delicious meals to our homeless neighbors.
When the pandemic first hit, the owners of the restaurant @kwiniland along with her very talented husband and chef @chefmichaelreed reached out - concerned about the homeless. Everything was shutting down. Their restaurant, along with thousands of others, resorted to take-out. Like the rest of the world, we started to see businesses all over Los Angeles struggling to stay afloat during the pandemic and sadly closing down. Windows and doors all over the city boarded up. And it seemed like the homeless tripled in numbers.
Poppy & Rose never failed us. They prepared hundreds of delicious
• Fried chicken sandwiches w/their secret sauce, lettuce & tomato on a brioche bun.
• Green salad with a creamy vinaigrette dressing.
We are forever grateful for your continued generosity!

A beautiful example of what can happen when we work together.
An organic farm in Malibu donated aaalll of these organic veggies. A group of crazy cool humans who LOVE to cook, will soak, clean, chop, re-soak, re-clean (if you’ve ever had veggies straight from a farm, then you know how much work it is to get everything clean), slice, dice, and come up with a creative way to use these beautiful organic veggies.

May 2021 - Fresh Fruit!
It’s such a treat for the homeless to have fresh fruit that doesn’t come in a can. We try our very best to provide fresh fruit with our meals.
When we first started, we put 🍎🍏🍎 in every brown bag lunch. I would walk around Skid Row and see all of our apples thrown on the curb. So I stopped and asked someone why they were throwing our apples away and he explained “Baby, we don’t have teeth to be biting into apples...” And that is how we started giving away bananas.
May 9, 2021 - Mother's Day!
I decided to honor my mother on Mother’s Day by doing something that both her and my father instilled in us at a very young age… to give back. We were not a rich family. What we lacked in dollar signs, we more than made up for with love and hugs, homemade games, endless hours of laughter and creativity. That’s what happens when you’re not rich. You create games and are forced to share with your brother and sister because you do not have an abundance. There was one TV (with aluminum foil on the antenna). And since I was the youngest ...I... was the remote control. Mom cooked and we ate dinner together every night. We did laundry and folded clothes together on the weekends. Sometimes we did not have a car so we walked to the grocery store and pushed the grocery cart all the way back home… together. My mom NEVER complained. She was the epitome of “glass half full.” She was the absolute best human.
Cheers to all the mamas out there who fight hard for their child. Whether your babies have two legs or four legs with fur.

My nephew @gethit_milesnorvell always nearby to chop it up with the “customers,” making it feel like a real barber shop.
April 2021 - Did someone say Indian food?!
The chicken marinated all night in Indian spices. Grilled and then added to basmati rice. On the menu: Biryani.
Kudos to these young men and their parents for making sure our homeless neighbors received a deeeelicious home cooked Indian dish.

We never want to bug them and ask for too much. And each month the awesome owner reaches out with future dates for pick-up. Thank you @kwiniland - you are the BEST!!
We had an extra treat of @sultandrinksusa full of ginger, black seed and Austrian water ... all for our homeless peeps. Okay... okay, we downed a few ourselves! They’re SO good!

@meanha is genuinely one of the sweetest people that I have ever met. Tiny and feisty with a heart of gold! Thank you for coordinating such a delicious treat for our homeless neighbors.
We started in North Hollywood, hopped on the freeway to Hollywood and ended up on Skid Row.

You have a child. You give that child everything you’ve got to give. You blink! And they’re all grown up. They move out. And you pray... pray... pray for their journey.
This is Ryan. He passed away one year ago today. His mother made a donation with a note “My son passed away on Skid Row. It brings me a small amount of comfort knowing that he may have received one of your meals and a warm smile from you or one of your volunteers…“
So we decided to take her donation and buy Ryan’s favorite meal... Pizza.
In honor of Ryan and his heartbroken family, we handed out pepperoni pizzas today.

The night ended perfectly… A homeless man named Red serenaded my best-friend @_cali4ever for her birthday.
Everyone was SO grateful and happy to receive such a delicious meal and we are forever grateful to the amazing human beings that made this meal possible.

These little angels from @thegivingexpress made 350 AWESOME toiletry bags for us to pass out to the homeless. Teenagers working all weekend long. Several weekends in a row, to make sure that the homeless can survive on the streets.

CHRISTMAS was AMAZING!
The community came together like never before to help us show our homeless neighbors sssoooo much LOVE!
Bludsos BBQ donated and smoked all of the turkeys.
We Are Friends And Family Restaurant in Hollywood opened their entire restaurant to us and basically ... saved the day when our original plan turned into a complete disaster!
So many beautiful people in the community cooked and chopped and sliced and diced to make sure that we were able to make over 200 amazing meals. Thank you to everyone! There is no way we could’ve done it without’chya!
Yes, I know it’s March. But honestly ... I just took my Christmas decorations down last week. So we’re right on time.

FIRST-SUNDAY OF DECEMBER ... already!!
A delicious meal delivered piping hot by the dynamic duo of @paynedotgov and her partner in crime @dougmccollough. They continue to amaze us with their generosity and down-home good vibes. Thank you!
We were out one night and this young man swooped up and asked what we were doing. Four weeks later, he showed up with a truck full of coats, cases of water, and enough energy to compete with our crew. @readykebede we are so very grateful for your hustle and amazing energy.
We taped an Alex Trebek quote onto 200 to-go containers. Peaceful journey, fine sir. Thanks for the years of wisdom.
